See below for a link to a special video Dr. Rossing recommends voting members to the assembly watch before coming.

Thanks again for the wonderful invitation to be part of your synod assembly on the theme of "God's Heaven, God's Earth, God's People...NOW!".

"God and Global Warming," a program that was on the PBS show "NOW" last Fall. Here's how Dr. Rossing describes it.

"God and Global Warming," chronicles a trip to Alaska by scientists and conservative Christian leaders who were skeptical about climate change, led by evangelical leader Richard Cizik. It has a whole segment in Shishmaref and the effects of climate change. (Unfortunately they never mention that Shishmaref is Lutheran!)

One of the primary skeptics is an African American pastor from Washington DC, but he gets "converted" by the people of Shishmaref. Helpful in my view are the video's emphasis on communities of color and also on how we need to primarily focus on catastrophic effects on people (rather than on animals, ecosystems) in order to persuade religious constituencies of the importance of the climate crisis. There is also prayer and testimony, as well as great shots of the Alaska glaciers, all contributing to a compelling story of conversion to creation care.
